Freeborn is “Kick Off” Speaker at Webster University

ST. LOUIS, Missouri—March 18, 2004— Webster University’s Export
Fellows Program is one of the St. Louis area premier training events for
any company new to international business development. The course is

ST. LOUIS, Missouri—March 18, 2004— Webster University’s Export
Fellows Program is one of the St. Louis area premier training events for
any company new to international business development. The course is
directed by Mr. Barrett Baebler. Special guests experts from the St. Louis International
Partnership are recruited to share their expertise in global business trade. This year Mr. John
Freeborn delivered the opening remarks to the class.
“Each year a featured speaker is called upon to ‘Kick Off’ the program,” says Mr. Baebler. “This
semester we asked Mr. Freeborn to share his experience because of his outstanding
performance in international trade over the past five years in the St. Louis area with small
business.” Baebler continues “He has achieved significant results for small business in a time
when the economy has experienced a downturn. Despite political opposition to opening foreign
trade, he has pioneered and championed small business export development”. Mr. Freeborn was
also asked to participate with the class closing graduation ceremony and was presented with a
Certification of Appreciation.
Mr. Freeborn received the Missouri 2003 Small Business Exporter of the Year award from Hon.
Governor Bob Holden in Mach of 2003. In 2004 he received the St. Louis Small Business
Exporter of the Year award and the SBA Region VII Export Champion of the Year award. The
Region VII SBA Small Business Champion award is recognition of the best in small business
exporting within the four states of Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Iowa.
The EXPORT FELLOWS program is offered each semester by Webster University. The course is
open to anyone exploring the opportunity of international trade development. In addition,
students will have the chance to network with local professionals within the St. Louis International
Partnership that include the Small Business Administration, the Missouri District Export Council,
the US Dept of Commerce, the Missouri Dept. Of Economic Development, the St. Louis World
Trade Center and more.
